I'll start off by apologising ... I've got soooo many wonderful weddings to write about and hopefully over the quieter winter months I can share some of these with you all!! It's been a crazy crazy mental summer
Every year I get a handful of weddings that really push the creative boundaries of what I do and todays excites me soooooo much. Helen & Dean's prep address, ceremony venue and reception are all within 200 yards of each other.
Helen & Dean had their pre shoot at Sherwood Forest just a few minutes down from the reception venue (Launey's Restaurant) so was aware of this location for potential photos for the wedding day but because of the dodgy weather forecast for the day it was too far to drag the guests to as well as the bride in her dress. We needed locations nearby so I scouted the venues prior to the wedding. I guess you could say there was very little in terms of shooting locations but what we do have is picturesque village streets, quaint walkways and an awesome bride and groom. This is what I would call 'the perfect photographic challenge' Sometimes you need a creative kick up the ass to challenge your ability.
The wedding day itself was just a damn pleasure to be part of. The bridal prep in the morning was perfectly chilled out and flitting between the bride and groom preps was incredibly easy. After a short 200 yard jump across to St Mary's Church for the ceremony it was back over the road to Launey's Restaurant for the reception. The weather did actually hold off for most of the day until an unwanted shower put pay to outside reception shots of the guests. It turned into 'wet playtime' for the guests who had to shelter inside along with the string quartet who eventually found some room to set up and entertain the guests!
After the speeches the Bride and Groom took advantage of a break in the bad weather and we all went for walk up to Sherwood Forest for some golden hour photos just before the sunset!
Helen & Dean were amazing to work with and such a natural couple in front of the camera. Loved every minute being part of their day
